Overcoming Roadblocks

February 25th 2007

As a member of the Church Of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints I am a member the worlds largest women’s organization called the Relief Society. I love this Program. It helps foster friendship, faith and the ability and desire to serve.

One of the ways we do this is through the visiting teaching program.
Each sister is given a list (3 or 4 names) and they are responsible for those particular women. We ensure that the sisters needs are being met and we visit them on a monthly basis to share a spiritual message. Going every month can be a challenge.

Today was our visiting teaching workshop at Church. I’m pooped. Last night I was at the church till midnight setting it up. (We tried to set up earlier but there was a party for Chinese New Year)

Our Topic was Overcoming Roadblocks to Visiting Teaching

Some of the Roadblocks:

Slow Children At Play ~ What to do with kids yours mine and theirs
Carpool Lane 2 or more persons per car~ We’ll all get there faster if we go together
Do not enter~ When you’ve been assigned but not invited in.
Yield to the Spirit~ Act on Promptings of the Holy Ghost
Caution Hazardous waste~ Quick! Clean the House the Visiting teachers are coming!
School Zone~ we are all here to learn
Shoulder work~ put your shoulder to the Wheel.

The Work shop went well. The sister enjoyed their snacks (80 hand tied paper bags filled with Fruit snacks a chocolate treat and a juice box) and above all we had a great time sharing Ideas to overcoming these road blocks. It’s a good feeling when all goes well…and it’s a great feeling when it done.
